Tom McKinlay Jr. claims Alberta Men’s Mid-Master Championship in Lacombe

Lacombe’s Tom McKinlay Jr. won the 2025 Alberta Men’s Mid-Master Championship on his home course.

Over the three-day tournament from June 16-18 at the Lacombe Golf & Country Club, McKinlay Jr. shot six-under par including a three-under par performance in the final round to secure the victory.

“It was very emotional,” McKinlay Jr. said in a video posted by Alberta Golf. “Coming into the week, I honestly was not playing that great but [on my] home course I figured it would come together. During the back nine, I got a big enough lead that it made it a lot easier… It was fun.”

Defending tournament champion Christopher Thayer of the Alberta Public Players Club finished close behind at two-under par followed by Red Deer’s Ken Griffith in third at even par.

Tom’s brother Bobby McKinlay finished in fifth place at five-over par followed by Lacombe’s Chad Cargill and Olds’ Tim Hollman who finished tied for sixth place at six-over par.
