Applications open for Red Deer Games Foundation financial assistance

The Red Deer Games Foundation (RDGF) is accepting applications from Red Deer and area athletes who seek financial assistance.

The Foundation provides financial help to individual athletes who demonstrate a high level of ability and a strong devotion to their sport.

Applicants have until Wednesday, June 4 to fill out an online application and to qualify for the grant, the athletes must reside in Red Deer or within a 50-kilometre radius of the community. They also need to have lived in that area for at least a year before applying.

The grants are only awarded to individual athletes and not to teams or organizations. However, athletes who are a part of a team sport may apply provided they can demonstrate identifiable elite development potential equivalent to success at a provincial or regional level.

The RDGF has two grant application periods in June and December. All applications must be completed on Central Sport’s website but are removed after each deadline date as posted. If they want to be reconsidered for the next period, the applicant must reapply.

The RDGF Grant Program has now contributed over $230,000.00 to local athletes since the program began in 1975.
