2025 Diversity Awards to be held in Sylvan Lake

The Town of Sylvan Lake will host its upcoming 2025 Diversity Awards.

The awards, put on by Diversity Magazine, are set for Friday May 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Nexsource Centre.

The free event aims to bring together people from across the province to recognize those who best represent equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).

Starting at 4 p.m., those who attend will get to experience a guided tour of Sylvan Lake. followed by an opportunity to network with community leaders and organizations at 5 p.m. During that time, guests will also get to view cultural displays.

At 6 p.m., there will be a panel discussion on how to make an organization or municipality welcoming where they’ll gain insights on the best ways of fostering inclusion and belonging.

They’ll wrap up the event with the awards presentation at 7 p.m.

“This is more than an awards ceremony—it’s a movement,” as stated in a release. “A powerful gathering of individuals, organizations, and municipalities that are not just talking about EDI, but actively living it. It’s where trailblazers, community builders, and everyday heroes come together to share, inspire, and be celebrated.”

The nominees and award winners will be coming to Sylvan Lake from across the province including Calgary, Drayton Valley, Blackfalds, Lethbridge, Fort McMurray, Edmonton, Red Deer, Brooks, Athabasca, and Spruce Grove. There will also be some nominees from Sylvan Lake as well.
