Lacombe city council approves revised 2025 Capital Works Program

Lacombe city council has approved a revised 2025 Capital Works Program, which features over $4 million in upgrades in the community.

The program was awarded to Border Paving and the budget includes a lane deep utility carryover from 2024 for $1,250,000, the 2025 Capital Work Program for $2,660,000, and 2025 active transportation projects for $428,000. This totals up to a 2025 Capital Budget of $4,338,000.

“I am pleased to announce that council has approved the 2025 Capital Works Program. The 2025 Program is an investment in our city’s infrastructure, services and quality of life,” said Mayor Grant Creasey said in a media release. “The program commits to sustainability, while maintaining fiscal responsibility and supporting our strategic priorities.”

Key projects in the program include:

  • 49A Avenue North and South Lanes – sanitary, storm and gas replacement.
  • 49B Avenue (50th Avenue to Highway 2A) – north sidewalk replacement.
  • 53rd Street (52nd Avenue to 56th Avenue) – water, sanitary, storm replacement and asphalt resurfacing.
  • 54th Avenue (47th Street to 53rd Street) – catch basin replacement, asphalt resurfacing and rectangular rapid flashing beacon (RRFB) pedestrian crossing.
  • C&E Trail (63rd Avenue to College Avenue) – asphalt resurfacing.
  • Telford Crescent – catch basin replacement, new sidewalk and RRFB pedestrian crossing.

The program also includes a stormwater main replacement in the parking lot between 49C Avenue and 49B Avenue. This work was identified during the design of the parking lot modifications being completed in conjunction with the 49C Avenue Plaza Project.
