Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools announced that St. Joseph High School teacher Jillian Klevyer was selected by the board of trustees as the division finalist for the 2025 Edwin Parr Award.

The award, which was established in 1964, honours six first-year Kindergarten to Grade 12 teachers who have taught in an Alberta School Board Association member school.

“I am deeply honoured and grateful to be nominated for the Edwin Parr Award. My goal as an educator is to create a nurturing and inspiring environment where every student can thrive,” Klevyer said. “I am passionate about fostering a love for learning and empowering students to become compassionate and engaged members of our community.”

St. Joseph High School principal Gary Gylander said Klevyer’s passion and commitment have set her apart since joining the school community this year.

“Jillian has quickly distinguished herself as an outstanding educator, creating a dynamic, inclusive, and engaging learning environment,” Gylander said. “She has developed strong relationships with students through daily connections and ensures that every student feels valued and supported.”

Board Chair Murray Hollman added the board selected Klevyer because she is an exemplary educator, a compassionate mentor, and a dedicated leader.

“Her ability to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment demonstrates her commitment to student success,” he said.

“Her dedication extends beyond the classroom, as she actively supports school events, community service, and integrates her faith into her teaching. We are immensely proud to recognize her achievements and the incredible impact she has had in her first year of teaching.”

The 2025 ASBA Edwin Parr Award Zone 4 winner will be announced at an awards ceremony on May 26 at the Innisfail Golf Club.
