Red Deer RCMP arrest alleged armed robbery suspect

Red Deer RCMP have arrested an individual in connection to an alleged armed robbery attempt that took place in December 2024.

At about 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 22, 2024, Red Deer RCMP responded to a panic alarm at a business on Reichley Street in Red Deer.

When they arrived, police say they found an unknown male who had allegedly entered the business with a firearm, pointed it at a worker and demanded money.

Mounties say the suspect then fled in a silver Toyota SUV.

As a result of an ongoing investigation, the Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section has arrested Robert Boy Idayan, a 49-year-old local resident.

He has been charged with:

  • Robbery – with a firearm x3
  • Disguised with intent to commit offence x3

RCMP report he was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on March 31, 2025.
