North American Pony Chuckwagon Championship Tarp Auction returns in April

The 24th Annual North American Pony Chuckwagon Tarp Auction is right around the corner.

On April 25, 2025, the auction is set to start at 6 p.m. at Westerner Park followed by a dinner and entertainment.

For $15 per person, the event gives local businesses an opportunity to bid on prime advertising exposure the during the chuckwagon and chariot races that take place during Westerner Days.

“Westerner Days is the biggest event our drivers compete in all year, and the energy at the track is incredible,” said Jim O’Connor, Red Deer Director with the APCCA in a media release. “Our goal this year is to bring even more excitement and engagement from local businesses—this sport thrives on community support, and the Tarp Auction is the perfect way to get involved.”

Officials say last year’s sold out event was a big success with plenty of friendly competition and strong bidding action.

During the North American Pony Chuckwagon Championship, a five-day event that takes place during Westerner Days in July, the event brings together some of the top drivers from across the Prairies to compete for over $30,000.
