End of partnership

Westerner Park searching for new sponsor after Peavey Mart closes doors

Feb 5, 2025 | 10:31 AM

Westerner Park says the closures of Peavey Mart in Red Deer will have a significant impact on the community.

It marks the end to a five-year partnership agreement between Peavey Mart and Westerner Park that began in 2021.

The partnership, Westerner Park said, has helped create long lasting memories for central Albertans, noting Peavey Mart embraced the community by supplying essential items that helped bring many events to life at Westerner Park.

“Our partnership with Peavey Mart exemplifies the kind of meaningful relationships that can have a lasting impact,” said Shelly Flint, CEO of Westerner Park in a media release.

“While their closure is undoubtedly a loss for the community, we are grateful for the support they’ve provided over the years and remain committed to finding the right partnerships to continue serving central Alberta.”

Last week, Peavey Mart announced the closing of 90 location across Canada, including in Red Deer. In a statement at the time, Doug Anderson, President and CEO of Peavey Industries LP said it was a difficult decision but one that allows them to explore the best possible alternatives for the companies future.

The end to the partnership also includes the sign on the Centrium and Westerner Park is now actively seeking businesses and organizations who want to become the main sponsor. They’re encouraged to reach out.

The organization said as they navigate the situation they’ll continue to be a hub of central Alberta.

“Whether it’s collaborating on events outside of our grounds or encouraging our team to participate in local initiatives as volunteers, our focus remains on strengthening our ties with the people and organizations that make this region so vibrant,” Flint added.
