Highway 2 reopened after collision south of Ponoka

Highway 2 has now reopened following a multi-vehicle collision south of Ponoka.

At approximately 2 p.m. on Jan. 14, RCMP Ponoka Highway Patrol received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 2.

The collision took place south of Highway 604 and north of Exit 437 after a semi-tractor trailer unit was rear ended by a cubed truck exiting a rest stop. The collision closed all lanes of the highway and motorists had to take an alternate route.

The driver of the cubed truck was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and police remained on scene until 2:49 p.m. when Highway 2 reopened.
