Just over a week into the new year, United Way Central Alberta has been announced as the recipient of $29,000 raised as the Bower Place Shopping Centre’s 2024 charity of choice.

The funds were raised throughout several events in 2024 organized by Bower Place including the Westerner Days pancake breakfast, charity shopping night, and a gift-wrapping station.

United Way Central Alberta said the events brought the community together but also supports their work in addressing basic needs, such as expanding access to mental health services, and fostering brighter futures for individuals and families across central Alberta.

“We are incredibly grateful to Bower Place for their unwavering support and to every individual who contributed to making last year’s partnership such a success,” said Chelsea O’Donoghue, United Way Central Alberta CEO. “This collaboration shows what’s possible when a community comes together to address local needs.”

The organization would like to thank Bower Place’s patrons, staff, volunteers, and community members for their generosity which will go towards supporting local programs and initiatives.

“We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our new and dedicated volunteers who offered their time and energy to making each of these events such a success,” said O’Donoghue. “Together, with the generous support from individuals, organizations, and businesses like Bower Place, we’re strengthening vital connections that support people in need across central Alberta.”
