Kinsmen Community Arenas opening delayed

The City of Red Deer reports the opening of the Kinsmen Community Arenas has been delayed at least two weeks due to a pressure test issue with the new chiller.

The new target date for opening is December 27 and the city says it will work with user groups to revise permits and schedules in the meantime.

The facility was initially set to open on Dec. 16, then adjusted to Dec. 18 to allow for additional time for equipment commissioning prior to the pressure test.

City officials say the pressure test is an essential step that ensures the chiller system is properly sealed to protect users and the environment.
