“Pockets of optimism” in 2025 drilling forecast from CAEC

The Canadian Association of Energy Contractors says U-S president-elect Donald Trump’s incoming administration will have profound implications for Canada’s economy.
The Calgary-based industry group released its 2025 drilling forecast today, which calls for quote “pockets of optimism” and a seven per cent increase in wells drilled compared to this year.
But it says competitiveness remains a concern, as Trump looks to expand the energy sector south of the border.
Group president Mark Scholz says Canada must respond with a pro-business and pro-development approach, and that it has been quote “sorely disappointed” with the federal Liberal government’s lack of support.
