Disc golf course installed in Town of Penhold

Nov 19, 2024 | 3:05 PM

Disc Golf has officially arrived in the Town of Penhold.

Over the past year, the Town worked with local groups to develop a disc golf course throughout the community.

As a result, this fall there were disc golf apparatuses installed in two separate park locations. One area has three practice baskets and the other has a nine-hole layout.

In 2025, an additional nine will be installed in another park area, making a total of 18 holes in key areas throughout Penhold.

So far, feedback from the public has been positive and they are looking at potential course expansion next year.

Meantime, local history lenthusiasts will have the opportunity to dive into a unique part of Penhold’s history.

Recently, longterm resident and business owner, Stewart Ford presented to town council to share historical information about Penhold.

The booklet, “A Walk Through the Historic Old Town” shows pictures with historic information from the 1800s and 1900s in the community.

Some of the information includes history of the rail line including the wealth created with numerous grain elevators next to the tracks.

The CPR Train Station was also a major in moving airmen from the Royal Air Force training depot to active duty.

Those interested in viewing it can be found online on the Town’s website.
