Season of giving

Red Deer Hope Mission asking for online donations amid possible Canada Post strike

Nov 13, 2024 | 4:59 PM

The holiday season is a time for giving.

Residents are being asked to donate online or by phone to Red Deer Hope Mission to ensure their contributions reach those in need without any set backs.

This comes after Canada Post issued a 72-hour strike notice on Tuesday, which could impact mail delivery this holiday season.

Red Deer Hope Mission is bracing for the possibility of disruptions of crucial holiday donations in the mail needed to support the communities most vulnerable.

Hope Mission, a local non-profit organization, says the need for their services is at an all-time high.

Officials say they requite more than 2,000 in-school breakfast meals served per week which is a significant increase from the 900 served per week last year.

A large portion of their charitable donations arrive during the holiday season to fund meals and other vital programs to help those in need.

To help those in need this Christmas donate online at hopemission.com or by phone at 1-855-836-HOPE (4673).

Hope Mission is a not-for-profit social care agency caring for men, women, youth, and children experiencing poverty across Alberta.
