Lacombe’s Daxon Rudolph and Team Canada White became gold medalists at this past week’s U17 World Challenge.

Rudolph, a d-man with the WHL’s Prince Albert Raiders who was taken first overall in the 2023 WHL Prospect Draft, helped his squad beat Team Canada Red for the gold medal in Sarnia.

Rudolph, who is just 16, had zero points and zero penalty minutes in five games. He did score one goal in one pre-tournament game.

En route to the final, Canada White won 6-2 over Czechia, then lost 5-4 to Sweden, bounced back 4-2 over Finland, and redeemed themselves 6-4 over Sweden in the semi.
