Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools has announced a new construction camp designed for high school students.

In partnership with Eagle Builders, they’ve launched a hands-on five-day camp for students interested in a career in construction and engineering.

The program, which is hosted at Eagle Builders in Blackfalds, will teach the students a lesson in foundational construction skills and concrete component building.

“We are excited to offer students this unique chance to explore careers in construction and engineering with one of the industry’s leaders,” said Tracey Millar, Career Pathway Coordinator at Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools.

“This partnership with Eagle Builders aligns with our commitment to providing practical, career-focused learning experiences for our students.”

The students will work alongside industry professionals gaining insights and practical skills for potential careers in construction and engineering.

Through the program they’ll experience hands-on learning, exposure to multiple disciplines, real world applications, teamwork, and problem solving.

“We are thrilled to partner with Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools on this initiative, which reflects our dedication at Eagle Builders to supporting and enriching our local communities. By offering hands-on experiences through this camp, we aim to equip students with foundational skills, spark interest in the trades, and open doors to potential career paths in construction,” said Amie Grootjes, Human Resources with Eagle Builders.

“Our goal is to inspire and empower students, allowing them to explore the rewarding opportunities available in the construction industry, all while building strong connections within the community that contribute to a thriving, skilled local workforce,” adds Grootjes.

“We are excited to provide our students with real-world opportunities to explore potential careers in construction and engineering,” said Murray Hollman, Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools Board Chair.

“This partnership reflects our commitment to helping students discover their strengths and passions in fields where they can build fulfilling careers. We’re grateful to Eagle Builders for opening their doors to make this a reality.”
