Olds Library of Things receives $5,000 grant

The Olds Municipal Library has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Central Alberta (CFCAB) to support its Library of Things, where residents can sign out tools, games, small appliances, recreation equipment, craft supplies, and more.

The Foundation says the unique library increases accessibility and enhances quality of life for its users, and that the grant will help the initiative continue for at least another three years.

The organization used a unique and hands-on approach to choosing the grant recipient in an effort to help new board members understand the granting process. Four new members each pitched a local agency to the group and each option was collaboratively discussed and evaluated using the pillars in the Foundation’s Strategic Plan as guideposts.

The Olds Library of Things was measured against the principles of community impact, sustainability, and stewardship.
