First snowfall

First snowfall expected in Red Deer and area on Monday

Oct 19, 2024 | 7:27 PM

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued a special weather statement on Saturday notifying Albertans of the first significant snowfall expected on Monday.

The area affected stretches from as far north as Ponoka and down into southern Alberta past the Calgary area.

ECCC explained the snowfall will begin Monday morning in Calgary and along the Highway 2 corridor. It will then move east throughout the day.

A period of rain may also occur early on Monday morning before the snowfall starts, which could create slippery travel conditions.
