Two local players selected for Team Alberta at WHL Cup in Red Deer
A pair of central Alberta hockey players have been named to Team Alberta for the upcoming 2024 WHL Cup.
Goaltender Drake Mooney of Blackfalds, and forward Crew Martinson of Olds, will play for Team Alberta at the WHL Cup from Oct. 23-27, 2024, at the Peavey Mart Centrium in Red Deer.
Mooney, selected by the Regina Pats in the 4th round, 82nd overall in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft, plays for Prairie Hockey Academy U18 Prep. While Martinson, who was selected in the 2nd round, 24th overall by the Tri-City Americans, plays for the U18AAA Red Deer Optimist Chiefs.
The Western Hockey League, in partnership with BC Hockey, Hockey Alberta, Hockey Saskatchewan, and Hockey Manitoba, announced Tuesday, the official rosters for the 2024 WHL Cup.
