Short jail term for alleged property crime offender
One of two individuals arrested in connection to local property crime offences this summer received a small jail term last month.
Randy Lee Soule, 42, of no fixed address, pled guilty to counts of fail to comply with a release order, and intent to avoid arrest on Aug. 15, 2024, and was sentenced to three days in jail for each count, to be served concurrently.
Meanwhile, co-accused Patrick Carson Raycraft, 61, of Red Deer, had his charges withdrawn. According to the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS), Raycraft’s charges were withdrawn as there was no reasonable likelihood of conviction.
It was on July 10, 2024, when Innisfail RCMP officers were patrolling the town of Penhold and noticed a red van towing a utility trailer parked behind a home with residents known to participate in property crime. Mounties say the license plate of the trailer was determined to be stolen from Calgary.
