Take a Screen Break: Try These 5-Minute Boosters!
Contributed by Stephanie Staples at Your Life Unlimited
Last week we talked about the Pomodoro Technique, if you missed that short, easy read, here you go. This week we are going to talk about what to do when you give yourself a little cognitive and emotional break away from the screens. Even 5 minutes can do wonders!
Here are some things I’ve tried…
A 5-minute stretch with Adriene
A brain-boosting snack (nuts, seeds, berries, etc.). Today I had banana and nut butter – sometimes I have a cookie. #Truestory
I have been heard to come out of my office and say, “I need a hug!” Pets also can help here
A 5-minute Guided meditation
Lying on the floor with my legs up against the wall
Play an uplifting tune, and maybe even have a little dance party! This is a current fav, I love Spanish!
YouTube, a 5-minute workout
Step out for a breath of fresh air
Color a mandala or do a zentangle
Hydrate
Journal
Unload the dishwasher or clean something (less enjoyable, but still satisfying!)
It’s just 5 minutes, but it’s your 5 minutes – take it!
Incorporating these activities into your breaks will give you a welcome respite from your work, can improve mental clarity, help you have a positive outlook for your day, and will probably make you nicer to be around! Now…your life, your version, your plan…
Pick the 3 ideas you like best (or some of your own; what do you do?)
Start being intentional about incorporating them into your day
Reap the rewards!

I love this little mental break! (~11/2 min).
