Fire restriction in place for Stettler County
As a result of extremely hot and dry weather and wind conditions, the fire advisory in Stettler County has been raised to a fire restriction as of noon on July 12, 2024.
Residents are advised by the Stettler Regional Fire Department to use extreme caution and only burn if necessary. Be aware of the weather conditions during a burn, and ensure you have water and appropriate measures on-hand to extinguish the fire. The department urges you to never leave a fire unattended, and to extinguish it if a change in weather increases the hazard risk.
Off-highway vehicles (OHV) can also start wildfires. OHV’s should be inspected frequently to ensure hot spots are free of debris, and to make sure mufflers and spark arrestors are working properly, the fire department says.
