Alberta Sports Hall of Fame appoints new board members
The Alberta Sports Hall of Fame has announced some changes to its board of directors following its Annual General Meeting.
The Hall welcomes Kelly Blackshaw, Al Lucas, Kerry Moynihan, and Stephen Ohene-Adjei to the board.
Officials say Kelly Blackshaw, co-founder of KidSport Society Alberta and former vice chair of Alberta Sport Connection, brings over four decades of leadership and sport development in Alberta. She has chaired Alberta Masters Games and served on the Calgary Olympic Development Association board. She also brings over 40 years of business experience as co-owner and president of Foothills Health Consultants Ltd. and vice president of INLIV Inc., two corporations dedicated to the health and wellness of Canadians. As an honored member of the ASHF, officials say she wishes to preserve and celebrate the accomplishments of Alberta, athletes, builders, and teams.
Al Lucas is described as a proud Albertan who grew up in the Lethbridge area, moving to Red Deer in 1986. He played sports all his life from hockey, to golf, to baseball. Lucas is active in central Alberta, supporting many non-profit organizations and events. He has been involved in the media on and off over the past 40 years and currently works with Harvard Media in Red Deer.
