Innisfail RCMP arrest alleged impaired driver who attempted to flee
A young central Alberta man is facing charges after a vehicle fled police before rolling into a ditch.
On June 16, 2024, at approximately 3:00 a.m. Innisfail RCMP were patrolling on C&E trail in Red Deer County when a vehicle was observed with a burnt-out taillight. Mounties say an RCMP officer activated his emergency lights to signal the driver to pull over and stop. However, rather than stopping, police say the driver accelerated and immediately lost control of the vehicle and rolled into the ditch.
RCMP called for assistance from Innisfail Fire and EMS to extricate the driver from his vehicle and to provide medical assistance. Mounties say the driver was transported to the hospital and later released with minor injuries.
