Dave Struch to remain as Red Deer Rebels head coach

May 1, 2024 | 10:18 AM

The Red Deer Rebels are dropping the interim tag off of Dave Struch’s head coaching title.

Struch joined the club in early March, and led the team to a 3-4-1-0 record down the stretch.

The team then won its opening round playoff series, but then bowed out in four against the WHL’s top team in Saskatoon.

“[I’m] very excited to be a part of the Rebels organization,” Struch says. “I’m looking forward to contributing to the continued success moving forward, along with the development of our players both on, and more importantly, off the ice as they prepare for their future.”

A native of Flin Flon, MB, Struch previously served as director of hockey at Notre Dame College in Wilcox, SK. He played four seasons in the WHL with Saskatoon prior to a 14-year pro career.

He has also coached in the WHL with Saskatoon, Regina and Everett.

“We are very pleased with the work Dave has done since joining the Rebels and are excited to move forward with him behind the bench next season,” says Rebels President and GM Brent Sutter.

“Dave brings experience and professionalism to our club and we’re confident he will help lead us where we want to go.”

Struch is officially the ninth head coach in franchise history.
