County of Stettler Councillor James Nibourg has been appointed president of the Alberta Seniors and Community House Association (ASCHA).

A councillor for 13 years, Nibourg previously served on the ASCHA Board as a director and vice president.

His passion for serving Albertans, especially seniors, is evident in his work and advocacy within the association, says the County.

“Being chosen the president of ASCHA is a true honour, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving Albertans in this capacity,” says Nibourg. “I am excited to work alongside the dedicated members of ASCHA to advocate for the needs of seniors and ensure access to quality housing and community supports. Together, we will strive to make a positive difference in the lives of those we serve.”

Reeve Larry Clarke says the County is proud to have council members like Nibourg who give their time to serve with important organizations.

According to the County, the ASCHA is made up of member organizations that offer community and senior housing options to Albertans. The association’s core roles are advocacy and member services, aimed at ensuring housing providers have the education, best practices, and resources necessary to provide the very best housing and supports to the individuals they serve.

The association represents more than 60,000 units of housing in 227 communities, and 75 per cent of the province’s total seniors housing sector.

The ASCHA president is the only board position elected by the entire membership
