Special weather statement issued for Red Deer

Significant rainfall is expected across parts of Alberta, including Red Deer, beginning on Sunday.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, total rainfall amounts of 50 to 90 millimetres are likely. However, localized amounts of over 100mm are possible.

Officials say the rain will begin on Saturday night and become heavy at times, especially in central Alberta and the foothills.

The rain will continue into next week before easing on Tuesday night into Wednesday.
