Alberta NDP has its six leadership candidates

The Alberta NDP has finalized the list of candidates vying for party leadership.

Party members will vote to elect one of the six following people:

Jodi Calahoo Stonehouse
Kathleen Ganley
Sarah Hoffman
Gil McGowan
Naheed Nenshi
Rakhi Pancholi

“I extend my congratulations to all contestants for meeting the requirements for nomination. We are proud that our party has attracted so many high-quality contestants for leader,” said Freistadt. “Albertans have an opportunity to select the person who will eventually be the next premier – a premier who reflects the values that Albertans share.”

Saturday, May 11 at 2 p.m. Official Leadership Debate – Calgary BMO Centre at Stampede Park – Hall D
Sunday, June 2 at 2 p.m. Official Leadership Debate – Edmonton Edmonton Convention Centre – Hall A
Saturday, June 22 Alberta NDP Leadership Premiere Hyatt Regency, Calgary

April 22 is the deadline to become a member of the party in order to vote for a new leader.

The party says it will release the number of eligible voters when the voter’s list is finalized in May.

The new leader will be announced June 22.
