Preliminary hearing scheduled for four charged in major Red Deer drug bust
A preliminary hearing will take place for four people facing charges after local Mounties seized tens of thousands of dollars worth of drugs from various Red Deer neighbourhoods last year.
Omar Abuelhawa, 58, Phouthavong Kham Khay, 56, Pakorn Narong, 52, and Sone Narong, 50, are scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 16, 2024, to see if their case has enough evidence to go to trial.
It was on June 26, 2023, when Red Deer General Investigation Section (GIS), concluded a nine-month investigation resulting in a significant amount of drugs and cash being seized.
GIS with the assistance of Police Dog Services and Red Deer RCMP executed search warrants in the Glendale, Rosedale, and Oriole Park neighbourhoods of Red Deer, as well as a local restaurant.
