Ponoka woman sentenced in alleged shooting incident last year
A 90-day jail term has been handed to a central Alberta woman charged in an alleged Ponoka shooting last year.
Tracy Lightfoot, 48, of Ponoka, was also sentenced to 12 months of probation, and given a one-year license suspension in Wetaskiwin Court of Justice on Jan. 22, 2024, after being convicted on one count of flight from a peace officer.
Meantime, one of four other co-accused, 20-year-old Journey Okeynan, of Montana First Nation, is scheduled for trial in Westaskiwin Court of Kings Bench from April 23-25, 2025.
Cree Lightfoot, 22, a resident of Red Pheasant First Nation, and Leanne Doris Standingontheroad, 49, a resident of Montana First Nation, had their charges withdrawn following a trial in Ponoka Court of Justice on Nov. 15, 2023.
