Dress for Success Central Alberta is launching a new workshop series which focuses on helping women increase financial literacy and education.

The three-part series is made possible thanks to a donation from Scotia Wealth Management’s Share the Wealth Program.

“We realize there is a need in our community to provide free, practical knowledge to women to help increase financial literacy,” says Erin Forbes, executive director, Dress for Success Central Alberta. “At Dress for Success Central Alberta, we are firm believers that increased knowledge empowers women to take control of their finances, make more informed decisions and better navigate challenges that arise.”

Rachel Collin, investment associate with The Zukiwsky Group, is a passionate ambassador for Dress for Success, as well as a board member.

“Choosing Dress for Success Central Alberta as my charity of choice to receive the Share the Wealth funds was a clear choice,” she says. “I am so proud to see Dress for Success Central Alberta further their work to empower women to achieve economic independence through this valuable workshop series using the funds provided by Share the Wealth program.”

The first workshop, Financial Basics & Budgeting, goes Jan. 30, at 6:30 p.m. at Dress for Success Central Alberta (5571 45 Street, Unit 5). The workshop will provide attendees with tangible and beneficial tools and systems for budgeting and improving quality of life, regardless of their financial starting point.

The second workshop, on Feb. 27, will focus on income tax preparation with the March workshop set to provide resources on exploring post secondary education as a mature student. There is no cost to attend the workshops and pre-registration is required.
