It’s time to register your child for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten.

Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten at Red Deer Public Schools is your child’s best choice, say Red Deer Public School officials.

Registration for the 2024/2025 school year is set to open for both Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten at Red Deer Public Schools on January 15 at 8 a.m. Parents are encouraged to register online.

Officials say Kindergarten is an amazing step for children where they begin the next chapter of learning and growing. Red Deer Public Schools says it offers fantastic Kindergarten programming to help ensure children have a great start to their education journey and to make sure they start school ready to learn.

It’s further noted that Kindergarten also marks a big decision for parents, and some parents may experience mixed emotions, but in Red Deer Public Schools, officials say Kindergarten is a happy and safe environment where children can thrive.

Red Deer Public Schools offers full day and half day programs in English, French and Spanish.

“Our programs focus on the whole child with a strong emphasis on communication skills and creating a strong foundation in early literacy and numeracy development,” said Ashley Paolinelli, Early Learning Coordinator with Red Deer Public Schools. “Children in our programs learn independence skills, develop confidence and build strong friendships and relationships, thanks to our wonderful and talented team of dedicated Kindergarten teachers.”

Meanwhile, Red Deer Public’s Pre-Kindergarten programs for children aged three and four are designed to support the youngest learners in increasing communication, socialization and fostering a love of school, note Division officials. Pre-Kindergarten classrooms are said to provide welcoming, play-based, literacy rich learning environments that stimulate curiosity, foster creativity and encourage critical thinking for students with varying needs and abilities. As part of the Division’s dedication to providing early intervention, officials say opportunities to work with a team of Speech and Language Therapists as well as Occupational Therapists are also available for students who qualify for additional supports and services.

Red Deer Public says it wants to ensure every child comes to school ready to learn. Opportunities to play with other children and access early learning supports are described as key to a child’s success.
