The suspect’s vehicle was seized, and search warrants were obtained for both the vehicle and his Springbrook home. From the vehicle, police say they seized stolen property and break-in tools, plus stolen guns from within the residence.

RCMP add that while in custody, the suspect threatened to slit an officer’s throat. While being fingerprinted, the suspect allegedly also damaged the police fingerprinting machine by throwing it to the ground.

Keith Daniel Thomas, 43, a resident of Springbrook, is charged with:

• Possession of a prohibited weapon
• Failure to comply with a release order (x6)
• Failure to comply with a probation order (x2)
• Uttering threats
• Possession of a firearm (x2)
• Improper storage of a firearm (x2)
• Possession of stolen property (x3)
• Mischief to Property under $5000.

The investigation continues, police say.

Thomas appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody. His next court appearance is set for Jan. 3, 2024 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
