The Hitmen outshot the Rebels 3-2 in extra time.

Red Deer’s Jhett Larson went next and scored on a deke, beating Hitmen netminder Ethan Buenaventura to go up by one in the shootout.

Calgary’s Sean Tschiger went next, but again, Red Deer’s Chase Wutzke came up big with a blocker save, giving teammate Kai Uchacz a chance to put the game away, but he too, was stopped by the Hitmen’s Buenaventura.

But the pressure was still on Calgary to score, so the Hitmen’s Oliver Tulk came out to give it a try, but Wutzke made another big stop, giving the Rebels a 3-2 shootout victory at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Shots on goal finished 35-33 in favour of Calgary.

On special teams, the Rebels went 0/4 on the powerplay, while the Hitmen went 0/3.
