Two arrested after another Red Deer drug seizure

Red Deer RCMP have made two arrests following another drug seizure.

On Nov. 11 at about 10:30 p.m., RCMP responded to a call for service in the city’s southeast. Police were making patrols on that unrelated matter when a suspicious vehicle was observed appearing to evade police, they say.

RCMP attempted to stop the vehicle which then fled at a high rate of speed. A pursuit began, and with assistance from Police Dog Services and a spike belt, the vehicle was safely stopped.

Police say the male driver of the vehicle attempted to run away on foot but was caught and arrested. The female passenger was also arrested.

During a search of the vehicle, RCMP located what they say is 96 grams of cocaine, 93 grams of methamphetamine, 155 grams of fentanyl, 27 pills of Clonazepam, and 35 pills of unknown substance. RCMP also seized various drug trafficking related paraphernalia, and $780 in Canadian currency.

Adrian Lazzaro, 41, a resident of Red Deer, has been charged with:

• Possession for Purposes of Trafficking x3
• Flight from Police
• Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle
• resist arrest
• fail to Comply with Release Order x2
  (RCMP)

Three charges of Possession for the Purposes of Trafficking are pending against the female passenger, who was released to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on Dec. 14, 2023.

Lazzaro was remanded into custody to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer Nov.15, 2023, following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing.
