no more dream home for now

Red Deer Kinsmen launch Lucky Bucks Lottery

The Red Deer Kinsmen Club is changing up its annual lottery, moving away from giving away a home, and with that someone’s life will change as well.

The Lucky Bucks Lottery replaces the dream home lottery, which saw over 40 homes won in Red Deer over the decades. This year, a grand prize of $400,000 is up for grabs.

There are many ways to win this year, and of course all the profits help the Kinsmen support a wide array of crucial community projects and organizations.

“All money raised stays in central Alberta. One hundred per cent of the profits from our lotteries over the years have gone to individuals, groups, clubs and organizations who needed assistance,” says Chris Klassen, lottery co-chair.

“If it’s making sure a kid has food to eat, or that a senior has a pass to get on the bus to get to the doctor, building playgrounds, or helping groups like the Red Deer Food Bank, The Mustard Seed or Aspire Special Needs, all the money has made a big impact.”

An application form for those in need is on the Kinsmen website.

The deadline to buy lottery tickets is end of day Dec. 31. Tickets cost $75 for one, $150 for five, $250 for 25, and $300 for 50.

There are 10 weekly prizes to be drawn in the lead-up to the deadline, so the sooner you buy your ticket(s), the sooner you can be entered for those amazing prizes which include Sylvan Lake Gulls season tickets and a brand new Traeger grill.

There will be 20 cash prize finalists announced in early January, and then a big blowoff event Jan. 19 at Bo’s Bar and Stage will reveal the grand prize winner of $400,000.

That’s not to mention a 50/50 draw currently at $50,000 that’s expected to grow substantially higher.
