Traffic pattern changes on 19 Street, traffic disruption on 48 Avenue

Local motorists are advised of upcoming traffic pattern changes for the 19 Street Improvements Project.

Today, September 25, City officials say the westbound lanes between 40 Avenue and Irwin Avenue will be closed and traffic will be diverted onto the eastbound lanes. This final portion of the 2023 work is anticipated to be complete by mid-October.

Starting at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, September 26, the eastbound lanes between Gaetz Avenue and 40 Avenue will be reopened and the intersections of 19 Street and 46 Avenue and 19 Street and Sharpe Avenue will be fully opened.

Drivers are reminded to slow down when approaching or driving in construction areas and to obey all signs.

Meantime, motorists are advised of an upcoming traffic disruption on 48 Avenue from 48 Street to 49 Street while crews pour concrete for the new Red Deer Justice Centre building.

Between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 48 Avenue will be closed between 48 Street and 49 Street.

Drivers should expect delays or plan an alternate route through the area.
