Duck race for Youth HQ goes Labour Day at Discovery Canyon
One of the year’s most unique fundraisers is happening this Labour Day Monday.
The Optimist Club of Red Deer Duck Race, in support of Youth HQ and other local youth initiatives, goes Sept. 4 at 9:30 a.m. from the treacherous whitewaters (not really) of Discovery Canyon.
Hundreds of rubber duckies will be dropped into the waterway, with $5,000 awaiting the owner of the winning canard.
One duck costs $20 to enter, and you do not need to be present for the race in order to win. In addition, a 50/50 cash raffle with a jackpot over $7,000 (as of Friday morning) is up for grabs.
