Aug 1, 2023 | 4:22 PM

A suspect has been charged following a central Alberta homicide over the weekend.

On July 30, 2023, Maskwacis RCMP received a report of a stabbing at a residence on Louis Bull First Nation.

Upon arrival, RCMP and EMS located a deceased male who has been identified as 34-year-old Maskwacis resident, Daniel Adrian Johnson.

RCMP arrested an occupant of the home and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit was deployed and took over the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, RCMP have charged 31-year old Maskwacis resident, Amie Lindsay Twins, with second-degree-murder.

Mounties say Twins was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded in custody with her next court appearance set for August 1, 2023, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin.

As this matter is now before the courts, police say no further information will be released.
