Wildfire conditions improving in northern Alberta after rain: government

Jun 6, 2023 | 10:06 AM

The Alberta government says wildfire conditions in northern Alberta have relatively improved, with some wildfires receiving precipitation Sunday night.

It says that’s assisted with wildfire operations and limited fire behaviour.

Officials have deemed the community of Chateh safe for re-entry.

But evacuation orders remain in effect for the hamlet of Fort Chipewyan, Mikisew First Nation including Allison Bay, Dog Head and Devils Gate, Fort Chipewyan Metis Nation and Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation.
