No one hurt in Red Deer residential fire
Fortunately no one was hurt following a residential fire in Red Deer’s Glendale neighbourhood over the weekend.
According to Pankit Patel, Fire Safety Codes Officer with Red Deer Emergency Services, crews were called out to a structure fire along Goodall Avenue at 6:08 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2023.
“It was a duplex,” recalls Patel. “When the crew got there, they saw thick grey smoke and it was coming out all of the vents. The fire started in the basement and continued in the basement.”
Patel says two people were inside at the time of the fire but both evacuated safely. A neighbouring property was also evacuated, says Patel, noting CO levels were high with the second property suffering some minimal smoke damage as well.
