Mar 29, 2023 | 9:55 AM

This spring, the largest equine expo in Canada returns to Red Deer for three days.

Horse Expo Canada comes to Westerner Park from April 28-30, with equine clinics, presentations, exhibitors, kid’s activities, entertainment and of course plenty of horses.

The event will showcase 12 world-class clinicians, instructing the audience in many disciplines, such as liberty, working equitation, barrel racing, show jumping, reining, western pleasure, and more.

It will also include the Trainers Showdown, a highly anticipated event which sees three trainers each take a young horse from barely halter-broke to navigating obstacles in just three days. The two-hour finale is on the Sunday with a champion to be crowned.

This year’s competitors will be Jason Irwin, Extreme Wylene Wilson, and Dustin Sippola, all renowned for their craft.

Children can also participate in scavenger hunts, and new this year, The Horseman’s Hot Seat, which features a conversation between hosts and clinicians focused on horsemanship skills. Cowboy Church, popular with attendees will be held on Sunday morning at 9:15 a.m.
