A new millionaire scratches her way to a windfall in Lacombe

A Lacombe woman is joining the millionaires club after she scratched her WESTERN MILLION instant ticket and took home the top prize.

According to Western Canada Lotter Corporation officials, she purchased her ticket from Lacombe Husky at 5804 Highway 2A in Lacombe on Dec. 18, 2022 and discovered her win the same day.

“I scratched my ticket, then scanned it using the app,” she recalled as she claimed her prize. “I was crying and shaking,” she continued. “I didn’t believe it!”

Officials say the winner has a few ideas for her windfall.

“I’m going to pay off some debt, purchase a home and invest what’s left,” she explained.

Officials say the winner was one of the last Albertan’s to claim a $1 million prize in 2022.

“It’s shocking! I felt like I was in a dream,” she added.
