The Innisfail RCMP and Fire Department have announced that their first annual “Battle of the Badges” charity hockey game has raised 1, 487 pounds of food and $6,038 in cash for the Innisfail Food Bank.

On Jan. 6, 2023, RCMP officials say the game was well attended by hundreds of people with the arena seating at capacity.

They state the game was a hard fought battle with the RCMP coming out on top 15 to 10.

“A huge thank you to all of the volunteers especially Rhonda Turnquist with the Town of Innisfail and the Calgary Flames Alumni. The Flames alumni not only supplied players and Flames alumni swag but also donated $2,500 to the Innisfail Food Bank,” said Innisfail RCMP in a release.

They confirm plans are already being made to bring this event back next year with the goal of making it even bigger.
