The United Way of Central Alberta says they will be receiving almost $185,000 from MEGlobal Canada ULC (MEGlobal) as a result of a record-setting campaign.

Officials say the 2022 MEGlobal Employee Charities Campaign generated $86,801 in employee contributions, $86,801 in matching funds from MEGlobal, along with an additional $11,065 raised in special company campaign events. The previous record was $161,000.

United Way of Central Alberta Chief Executive Officer Chelsea O’Donoghue said the support from MEGlobal is outstanding.

“We are so incredibly grateful for the support from MEGlobal and their generous, community-minded employees at the Prentiss site. To have a record-high employee workplace campaign in a year where so many are facing challenges is incredible. We could not be more thankful for their donation and enthusiasm for making a difference in our community,” she said.

Established in 1965, United Way Central Alberta says their mission is to improve lives and build community through engagement and mobilized collective action. They say all donations are invested by active community volunteers and directed into Central Alberta communities through programs geared towards the root causes of complex social issues.

MEGlobal’s 2022 campaign coordinator Kayle Yonkman echoed the sentiment.

“It was great to see our site come together for the 2022 United Way Campaign. Being able to gather in person for events throughout the campaign brought back a sense of community at Prentiss and the impact was evident when looking at our results. We are thrilled to donate to an organization that helps so many in need in the Central Alberta community. A huge thank you to the MEGlobal campaign participants for a record-breaking year,” said Yonkman.

MEGlobal is a global manufacturer and marketer of ethylene glycol (EG).
