Weekly Top-10 high school football rankings

Oct 24, 2022 | 3:52 PM

Here are the Weekly Top-10 Rankings for all four Tiers of 12-man high school football in Alberta and the 6-man rankings as well for the 2022 season.

These rankings will come out every week until November 7. At that time, those will be the last rankings and teams will take this rank into Provincials, says Football Alberta.

The teams are slotted into Tiers based on their estimated school size over a three-year average by the Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association. Please note that games vs. US opponents, scrimmages, or tournaments are not taken into consideration for ranking or listed in the overall record of the schools.

Should you have any questions about the rankings or listed teams please contact Football Alberta at (780) 427-8108 or visit www.footballalberta.ab.ca.

GAME(S) OF THE WEEK:

Number One vs. Number Two!

6-a-side

#1 Millwoods Christian Royals at #2 J.C. Charyk Hawks

4:00 p.m., Friday, October 28, J.C. Charyk High School (Hanna)

We’ve been waiting for this one! The 6-a-side game has been described as fast break football for a reason. Rare is the game that does not see the score reach into the 60’s – sometimes by both teams. It can be a workout for both players and officials alike, but can also deliver some of the most exciting games in the province during the fall.

This week’s game features two undefeated teams vying for first place in the Eastern Division of the 6-a-side High School League in their last regular season match-up. A victory means a BYE into the ASAA Provincial Semi-Finals while a loss means the loser progresses right into the playoffs hosting a dangerous third place team from the Western Division next week. It is also a rematch of the entertaining 2021 ASAA Provincial Final in the Alberta Bowl at Commonwealth Stadium which saw the hometown Royals outlast the then two time defending Provincial Champion Hawks 60-48. A long way to go for Millwoods Christian next Friday, but the reward will be worth it, if they can take care of the hard charging Hawks.
