Rising Hospitalizations

Alberta COVID-19 hospitalizations surpass 1,000

Oct 13, 2022 | 9:16 AM

Alberta is reporting a growing number of people in hospital with COVID-19.

As of Monday, there were 1,014 people being treated for the illness, including 31 in intensive care.

Dr. Dan Gregson, an infectious diseases physician, says a new wave of COVID coupled with a big wave of seasonal flu would really stress the health system.

The latest data shows 4,951 people in Alberta have died from COVID-19.

The province’s COVID-19 dashboard is now showing only zone statistics instead of by municipality. According to Alberta Health, there have been 62,197 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the AHS Central Zone since the start of the pandemic, with 109 patients currently in hospital, four in intensive care, and 443 deaths related to coronavirus since the pandemic began.
