Sep 22, 2022 | 10:29 AM

A Rocky Mountain House man charged in a campground shooting three years ago has been given a conditional discharge following a five-day jury trial in Red Deer Court of King’s Bench last week.

Probation measures for Edward Allister McKenzie, 23, include performing 25 hours of community service work within 10 months, to not be in possession of anything designed for use as a weapon or anything intended for use as a weapon, to not be in possession of firearms, ammunition or explosives, and complete the Canada Firearms Safety Course for non-restricted weapons and proof of completion within six months.

The order was in relation to a charge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, while a second count of aggravated assault was withdrawn.

It was on June 29, 2019 at approximately 4:30 a.m., when Rocky Mountain House RCMP were called to an area hospital for reports of a male having been shot multiple times.
