Local home sales dip lower last month

Red Deer saw a dip in home sales last month when compared to the month before and August 2021.

According to the latest Residential Market Update from Central Alberta Realtors Association, there were 155 units sold in Red Deer in August, down from 188 units sold in July and 164 units in August of last year.

Meanwhile, year-to-date numbers show 1,527 units sold in Red Deer to the end of August, compared to 1,374 units sold to this time last year.

The average sale price in Red Deer was $338,064 in August, down from $343,105 in July, but still up from $331,764 in August 2021.

The average number of days to sell a home in Red Deer last month was 42. That compares with 45 days in July and 55 days during August of last year.

Throughout the entire central Alberta market, there were 450 units sold. That’s down from 504 units sold in July and 596 sold in August 2021.

Year-to-date numbers show 4,363 units sold throughout the region so far this year. That compares to 4,859 units sold to the end of August 2021.

The average sale price throughout central Alberta last month was $341,418. That compares with $346,482 in July and $428,144 in August of last year.

The average number of days to sell a home in central Alberta last month was 53. That compares to 51 days in July and 61 days in August 2021.
