Blackfalds-based Western Métis Logistics to help launch men’s mental health program

“The two organizations are bringing to life, through the process of the Corporate Partnership and Social Enterprise Framework, a realization of my vision for supporting men’s health,” says Todd Holland, WML president. “This will help to realize the impact that we could have by creating a mental health program to improve the lives of men across the nation.”

Renee Giroux-Wyton, GBV co-founder and CEO, says the training will begin in summer 2023, adding that they’ll be working with corporations to deliver it through new hire orientations, corporate and sector wellness programs, and trades.

They hope to have it accredited once developed.

“WML Inc. will be providing employment opportunities and training to individuals needing a second chance or starting over, within the current corporate infrastructure in house, yard, shop, and office. Additionally, WML Inc. is working with Rupertsland Institute to provide job opportunities and training to Métis individuals,” says Giroux-Wyton.

“It is only through collaboration, between corporations, not-for-profit, and government, that we as society are going to create lasting, barrier free, and impactful social solutions to our largest social issues, such as gender-based violence, suicide, addictions, and homelessness.”

She also believes solving the social issues of today requires a new approach.

“We are grateful to Western Métis Logistics for the work they have done and for the collaborative passion [they have] for creating social impact solutions as a corporate partner. We look forward to a long and impactful relationship with WML Inc.”

Both WML and GBV were established in 2020.
